15 Common English Expressions You’ve Always Said Dead Wrong – See more at: http://www.rockstarghana.com/2015/11/15-common-english-expressions-youve-always-said-dead-wrong

KOD-Kofi Amoabeng

You might have laughed or cringed or gnashed your teeth while reading this article’s subtitle, but the odds are that you’ve made mistakes a time or two on a familiar word or expression. Using language incorrectly may not seem like a big deal–after all, people are actually writing essays in text-speak now and getting away with it. Yet when you’re speaking to an audience of customers, clients and colleagues, you need to demonstrate your professionalism at all times. An improper grasp of the language won’t impress anyone, will cost you the respect of your peers and may, in the long run, cost you business! Now, some of these are actually pretty tough, so I don’t blame you if you slip up on them from time to time. For example, many of us are guilty of suggesting it’s time to “Take a different tact” when what we mean is that it’s time to “Take a different tack.” Tact refers to your sensitivity in dealing with others, while tack is a sailing term that means: change course by turning the boat into the wind. You’re forgiven for not knowing some obscure sailing term. Others just make you look silly, though. Imagine actually “pouring over” documents at work. What are you pouring? Isn’t it messy? You should probably not do that. Just saying. Take a look at this list of commonly misused expressions and see how many you recognize:

Samini Responds To Shatta Wale Performing For Free At SaminiFest 2015

Samini-and-Shatta-Wale

It could be recalled that Shatta Wale on Thursday, November 5, 2015 with Bola Ray and Anita Erskine on Accra-based Starr FM revealed he wouldn’t mind performing for free at Samini’s 2015 SaminiFest concert because of the love he has for the ‘Linda’ musician contrary to popular belief that they are beefing over the title of  Dancehall King in Ghana.

After dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale’s declaration his perceived rival, Samini has stated that he has enough artistes billed for the show.

According to Samini, any uninvited person who shows up at the grounds is “an audience”.

“It’s my personal reasons. If you are not invited, neither have you been confirmed or billed to perform, when you come there, you are coming to see if you would get the chance to perform or you are coming to be an audience,” he said on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review last Saturday when asked if he would allow Shatta Wale perform at the event.

“But I think with myself as an artiste and the rest of [the artistes] that I have on the bill so far, I think it’s cool. I don’t need anymore. I haven’t booked him. It’s a big concert; he can come and witness,” Samini added.

This years’ event is slated for December 5 at the Trade Fair

Artistes billed to perform include Stonebwoy, Jupita, Episode, Kaaki and Mzvee.

Masturbation goes wrong.

Business came to a halt at Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital when an ambulance with a young man crying more than the siren arrived. It is said that the 24 year old young man had put a size 21 bolt as a ring on a penis to give him sensation as he was masterbating in his bedroom. At press time around 15:40 hours, Mwebantu media managed to interview Doctor Maison Chomba at Levy Mwanawas hospital who indicated that the bolt cannot be removed without a surgical process. He said the possibility was that the young man rolled the bolt to the root of his penis whilst it was flacid and that the dilation of muscles happened after sexually toying the penis. Actress Lydia Forson to Sue SilverBird Cinema & Staff For Refusing to Sell A Bottle of Coke to Her Because Of Her Body Size

Lydia Forson

According to a GhanaCelebrities.Com report, actress-Lydia Forson had a rough day over the weekend when she decided to go to the cinema. The actress has also taken to her facebook to throw on the web her side of the story, saying, she was grossly disrespected at SilverBird Cinema in Accra .

Like they say, there’s always two sides to a story—

Sources close to Lydia Forson have hinted that following the weekend’s disrespect, the once in a blue moon actress who spends almost all her life on social media has decided that, she will sue SilverBird Cinema and the staff who failed to sell to her a bottle of her favourite drink-COKE on the plausible ground she was fat—and therefore offered her a certain concoction called ‘Sobolo’ in replacement.

Apparently, Lydia Forson went haywire when this happened—but the staff maintained that as a patriotic citizen of Ghana, he owes the country an obligation to ensure that the healthcare facilities are not over-pressured by not aiding in the spread of fatness and its related diseases.

Lydia Forson intends to sue both SilverBird Cinema and the staff—the former, for employing such a douche bag and the latter for hijacking the job of her parents.

SilverBird Cinema has not issued a statement yet but our source from their quarters says, the cinema will also argue in defence that, they have an implied statutory responsibility to ensure people are healthy—and therefore they cannot sell a bottle of coke to someone of Lydia Forson’s body type.

Our legal expert says; “this case will definitely be interesting.”
