The books are embossed with pictures of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate and Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament (MP) in the area.
Presented by Madam Appiagyei, also known as ‘Mama Pat’ in political circles, the free books formed part of activities marking the ‘My First Day at School’ project, to welcome new entrants to school.
The items presented were 200 pieces of footwear, 1250 stationery kits, 1000 pieces of dual desk, 960 pieces of the Cockcrow books, school uniforms and 10,000 exercise books.
Mama Pat indicated that 14 schools in the constituency including New Asafo MA, Kaase MA, Atonsu MA, Shukuriya Islamic School, Gyinyase MA and Good Shepherd, just to mention a few, would receive the free books and other items.
The Asokwa Lawmaker stated that her supporters and admirers assisted her to acquire the aforementioned items which were presented ostensibly, to make learning interesting and easier for the pupils.
Madam Appiagyei officially welcomed the new entrants to school and urged them to always report to school on time and take their lessons seriously so that they would grow to become influential people.
Mr. Opoku Foster, Headmaster, New Asafo MA Primary, on behalf of all the 14 schools, commended Mama Pat for her vision and determination to promote education in the constituency.
He mentioned dual desks, marker boards and inadequate furniture among others, as the pressing needs of the school, appealing to the well-to-do-people in the constituency to come to the aid of the school.
